Manchester Property Investment Boost Due To Major Transport Improvements

Transport and the various infrastructure improvements being made across Manchester are boosting the housing market performance, with the property sector being set for another increase with the announcement of the TransPennine Route Upgrade – a multi-billion-pound scheme.

A new multi-billion-pound scheme is boosting the housing market performance in Manchester, with the TransPennine Route Upgrade due to play a major role in the growth.

The new Labour Budget pledged some major commitments towards making improvements and investing in the North of England, with one of the key investments being the TransPennine Route Upgrade, which will bring better journeys to those that travel between Manchester, Huddersfield, Leeds, and York.

The goal is to have better connections, with more regular, faster trains of better quality and greener, to combat pollution issues.

These upgrades continue to boost the Manchester property market, allowing more and more people to commute out where needed while still living in their ideal city. According to Zoopla’s House Price Indexes, Manchester is constantly at the top of the board when looking at annual house price gains, with the 2024 year-on-year rise at 2.8% for Manchester property – compared to just 1% nationwide.

Not only does the travel upgrade make Manchester more appealing for commuters, it also opens up thousands of jobs across the area.

“This major investment in our roads and railways will mean better connections between Greater Manchester and key towns and cities across the Pennines. After years of failed promises, it’s a real statement of intent from this new government that will provide quicker, more reliable journeys for millions of people, and help to unlock the enormous potential of the north as an engine for growth.”
